In this article, we explore the rules and principles that minimize the probability of your WhatsApp account being blocked.

In the first part, we’ll briefly outline the key recommendations. Further details are provided below if you need them.

## Part 1: Essentials

### Number Age

- The longer a number has been registered with WhatsApp, the **more resistant** it is to blocking.
- A **newly registered number** is immediately considered “suspicious.”

✅ Recommendations:

- **Warm up the number**: send and receive messages, media, and real interactions for several days before linking it to the unofficial API (*see document: *[Number Warming Process](docId\:ylJ33cvLZzG83w1gK1tYw)).
- Very important: **do not scan the QR code immediately** after registering a new number. Wait at least a day or more.

### Spam Complaints

This is the **most common reason** numbers are blocked on WhatsApp.

✅ Recommendations:

- Make your recipients **message you first**. Add a “Contact us on WhatsApp” button or use pre-filled WhatsApp links.
- In your first message, **ask a question** so customers are more likely to reply.
- Add an opt-out option like: *“Type STOP to stop receiving our messages.”*
- Personalize messages (e.g., *Hi %client\_name%!*).
- Use [Spintax](docId\:eckzwUYUhd0wW8zynO1Hn) to randomize text and avoid sending identical templates.

⚠️ Remember: the first thing the recipient sees is the **Block button**. Make sure they have no reason to press it.

### Suspicious Bulk Activity

WhatsApp algorithms flag sudden, unnatural activity.

✅ Recommendations:

- Don’t send more than **2 messages per minute**, **6 hours per day**, or more than **3 consecutive days of heavy sending**.
- Gradually increase activity: don’t create multiple groups or message unknown numbers all at once.
- Use the [Delay Message](docId:6t_cxBRHOr7k-TnFwRhFE) to add randomized pauses between messages.
- Distribute campaigns across multiple numbers with the [Switch numbers](docId:1ZeQfyKsx8bbr1EE4cXHx) .

### Response Rate

WhatsApp favors accounts that look like **real conversations**.

✅ Recommendations:

- Aim for at least **30 replies per 100 messages sent (30%)**.
- Encourage customers to save your number in their contacts.
- Always balance sent vs. received messages.

## Part 2: Details

### Key Principles

The closer your communication resembles **real human conversations**, the safer your account will be.

❌ A real person would **not**:

- Send hundreds of messages per minute.
- Constantly message strangers, especially with links.
- Send identical texts to everyone.
- Speak impersonally without names.
- Send messages at perfectly equal intervals (e.g., every 5 seconds).

✅ A real person would:

- Vary text with [Spintax](docId\:eckzwUYUhd0wW8zynO1Hn) .
- Space out messages with [Delay Message](docId:6t_cxBRHOr7k-TnFwRhFE) .
- Use different numbers when scaling with [Switch numbers](docId:1ZeQfyKsx8bbr1EE4cXHx)
- Respond to messages, use emojis, typing indicators, voice notes, and reactions.

### Starting the Conversation

- Safest approach: **let customers message you first**.
- Use “Contact us on WhatsApp” buttons and pre-filled greeting links in ads and websites.

### Loyal Audience

- Message contacts who already know your business.
- Ask customers to **save your number** in their contacts. This boosts your reputation in WhatsApp’s system.

### Avoiding Spam

- Don’t blast cold contacts with promotions.
- Always personalize and vary your text.
- Don’t include links in the first message.
- If you must, only send **safe HTTPS links**.

Just **5–10 “Block” reports** on first contact is often enough to get your number banned.
:::

### Human-like Behavior

- Always reply to customers.
- Use real behaviors: read receipts, “typing…”, “recording audio…”, emoji reactions.
- Don’t repeatedly contact people who never reply.
- Spread messages naturally throughout the day, not 24/7.

## Technical Recommendations

- **New numbers must be warmed up** before using them at scale.
- Virtual numbers (eSIM, VoIP) are at **higher risk** and need even more warming (*see *[Number Warming Process](docId\:ylJ33cvLZzG83w1gK1tYw) ).
- Do not scan the QR code right after registering a number.
- Limit sending to **6–12 messages per minute**.
- Randomize intervals using the [Delay Message](docId:6t_cxBRHOr7k-TnFwRhFE) .
- Split traffic between numbers using the [Switch numbers](docId:1ZeQfyKsx8bbr1EE4cXHx) .

## If Your Number Gets Blocked

- **Wazzap cannot unblock numbers** — this is 100% controlled by WhatsApp.
- To attempt recovery, follow the official WhatsApp instructions:
- If recovery fails, you can connect a new number to your Wazzap channel at no extra cost.
- Always apply warming and best practices when onboarding a new number.

## ⚠️ Final Note

Even when following all recommendations, there is **always a risk of blocking** when using the unofficial WhatsApp API.

That’s why Wazzap invented key features to minimize this risk:

- [Spintax](docId\:eckzwUYUhd0wW8zynO1Hn) → avoid repetitive texts.
- [Delay Message](docId:6t_cxBRHOr7k-TnFwRhFE) → add natural pauses.
- [Switch numbers](docId:1ZeQfyKsx8bbr1EE4cXHx) → distribute traffic across numbers.
- [Number Warming Process](docId\:ylJ33cvLZzG83w1gK1tYw) → build reputation for new numbers.

✅ By combining these tools with the best practices outlined here, you can dramatically extend the lifetime of your WhatsApp numbers and operate at scale with greater confidence.
